Thanks to the original author for this VERY useful post. A grammar and spell check can only do some much, but it is a good place to start. I agree with the “track changes” this is dead handy. This feature on word highlights changes and you can approve them individually or all at once. Until the changes are approved the old text remains (although is crossed through). Also if you use another computer or someone else edits their edits are shown in a different colour.

Not everyone can afford an editor and it is one of the most important parts of writing.
